Jesé is loaned out to UD Las Palmas from PSG

Gran Canarian forward Jesé Rodríguez will play for UD Las Palmas on loan until 30th June 2017. The express desire of the player to wear the yellow shirt was key to the parties reaching a deal with París Saint Germain.

Jesé Rodríguez will be wearing the yellow shirt until the end of the season, once negotiations were finalized directly between UD Las Palmas president Miguel Ángel Ramírez and the French club. The player’s wishes prevailed over other Italian and English teams who were prepared to pay the high costs of the footballer’s wages to París Saint Germain.

Jesé is a quick forward, and can play on either wing. Last summer he was transferred from  Real Madrid to París Saint Germain for 25 million euros. The Canarian player has not featured much in the team managed by Spanish manager Unay Emery, so his lack of playing time has led to the Paris team looking to loan him out for the winter transfer window.

Jesé learnt his trade in the youth ranks of  Virgen del Pilar and AD Huracán. At 16 he left for Real Madrid (in the 2010 /2011 season). His meteoric rise through the ranks of Castilla led to him starting for the first team. His debut came in December 2011 in a Spanish Cup match against SD Ponferradina. José Mourinho started to play him in the starting line-up. In March 2012 he played his first league encounter, against Real Sociedad, replacing Cristiano Ronaldo. Following his re-signing in June 2013, Jesé featured regularly in the Madrid team managed by Carlos Ancelotti and later by Rafa Benítez.

In his remarkable career with Real Madrid he has won two Champions Leagues, a Spanish League title, a Spanish Cup, a World Club Championship, and a European Super Cup title. He the greatest ever goalscorer in the second team, with 25 goals, beating Emilio Butragueño. He has been selected for the youth ranks of the Spanish National team at under 16 through to under 21 levels. With the under 19s he won the 2012 European Championship played in Estonia, and was the top scorer of the tournament. In 2014 he was close to playing for the full national team, but an unfortunate injury prevented him from doing so. He is the most expensive Real Madrid youth player to have been transferred to another club, in their history.

Jesé arrives at Gran Canaria airport today at 12.15, at the international terminal. He will undergo a medical at the Perpetuo Socorro Hospital at 13.30 h and at 18:00 h will be introduced as a new UD La Palmas player in the Estadio Gran Canaria. Entry will be free for fans (access via the main stand). He will wear number 10 on his back for the club.
