UD Las Palmas presented Lorenzo Amatucci this Friday, an Italian midfielder on loan from Fiorentina. The young footballer expressed confidence in the step he has taken in his career: “Good young players can play in Spain. Here there is less fear of betting on us. I have seen players my age become an added value for clubs.”

The club's sporting director, Luis Helguera, praised his arrival, stating that “he is a versatile player who adapts very well to our style of play. He can play as a six, eight, interior, or pivot. He has already participated in contexts similar to ours.”

Amatucci explained that he can “bring balance to the team, as well as rhythm and game timing,” and expressed satisfaction with his first impressions as a yellow player: “I am very happy to have played in my first friendly. They were my first minutes after several months. I only had two training sessions, but I think it went very well.”

Regarding his decision to sign for UD Las Palmas, he was clear: “I have always dreamed of playing in Spain, since I was a child. It is the best stage for a midfielder. Here the game goes through the midfield, and I love that. I spoke with someone who played here, and they told me that life on the island is very good, the fans are incredible, and the club is a great organization.”

As for the style of play, the Italian compared the leagues he has competed in: “Italian Serie B is more physical, slow, and direct. Here, the game is played more on the ground. That is the football I like.”

Amatucci did not hide his admiration for two role models: “Xavi Hernández has always been my idol. He is the best midfielder in history. I am also inspired by Verratti. They are players with immense personality on the ball. I am more defensive now, but watching them leaves me speechless.”

During his first days, he has already started integrating into the group: “I was very surprised by the quality of Jonathan Viera. I also liked the defenders, like Barcia and Mika Mármol. I connected while talking with Enzo Loiodice; he has helped me understand how everything works here.”

Finally, the midfielder thanked his new teammates for the warm welcome: “It is a privilege to play with footballers like Jonathan or Jesé. They spoke very highly of the city, the fans… Life here is very good. I have only received kind words.”
