The last game of the year did not provide Las Palmas with a much sought after victory, despite a good second half performance. Paco Herrera made changes to the side that started last week’s derby match. Rafa Mir accompanied Sergio Araujo in attack, in place of Rubén Castro. UD Las Palmas started the match in determined mood. In the first ten minutes both Danny Blum and Sergio Araujo should have scored against Córdoba with powerful shots. In the first half the away side had a lot of shots on goal, but were not fortunate enough to score.

The home side responded with a shot by Jaime that rebounded off the post. The yellows went in search of a goal, and in a well-worked move involving Araujo,Blum and Mir, home goalkeeper Carlos Abad was forced into a fine save, turning away a header from the Murcia-born striker (min. 25). Then just two minutes later Córdoba went ahead with a goal by Jaime Romero. Las Palmas then went close once more with a header by David García that went over the crossbar (min. 30), leaving the away side with the need to turn the game around in the second half.

Before the start of the second half, Blum was forced off through injury, and Herrera brought on Rubén Castro who turned the game on its head. Las Palmas came out with their full attacking potential, and began to play in a much more aggressive and brave manner. The away side pushed forward and had several chances to equalise. The ball came to Rubén Castro in the 56th minute, who deservedly put his side on level terms.

Just as Las Palmas were turning the screw Córdoba scored their second goal of the night, (min. 66), by Piovaccari, who had just come onto the field of play. Araujo nearly brought his side level from close range, being denied by a great save by the home goalkeeper. Then Córdoba broke forward with a goal by Andrés Martín to make the score 3-1 in the 73rd minute. Then six minutes before the end Piovaccari scored the game’s final goal, making a final scoreline of 4-1.
