Las Palmas bids farewell to 2025 with a thrashing and a new clean sheet (4-0)

UD Las Palmas bid farewell to 2025 this Saturday with a well-deserved and necessary home victory (4-0) against Cultural y Deportiva Leonesa, a team that visited the Estadio de Gran Canaria for the first time since their last appearance at the Insular in 1996. It was a triumph built early on, with first-half goals from Enrique Clemente, Jesé Rodríguez (two), and Manu Fuster.

The Gran Canaria team had the virtue on this occasion of quickly taking the lead, just one minute and 30 seconds after the match had started. It was Enrique Clemente who opportunely scored the 1-0, after a corner play forced by Jesé Rodríguez. The action was assisted by Mika Mármol, with a dribble and an excellent pass that Clemente managed to deflect to beat Edgar Badía.

The yellows did not change their game plan, while they fueled their offensives with a very lively Jesé. At 15 minutes, the Gran Canaria forward could have scored with a powerful shot that a defender deflected with his head. It was actually an appetizer, because three minutes later Jesé would score the 2-0 with an excellent shot from the edge of the box. The play started with a pass from Sergio Barcia, which his teammate resolved with a half-turn shot from the edge of the area.

Cultural tried to reduce the gap with some advances, but it increased before the half-hour mark, with another efficient attacking action from the yellows. The 3-0 was the work of Manu Fuster, with a solo run from the center of the field that he finished before reaching the area. The low shot from the Valencian slipped in next to one of Badía's posts.

Las Palmas wanted more and before halftime achieved a fourth goal, again scored by Jesé after a pass from Manu Fuster. The forward broke through the visiting defense with a run, finishing with a dribble past the goalkeeper and a shot into the empty net.

Las Palmas could have extended the lead with new missed chances at the end and beginning of both halves, with a high shot from Loiodice and a play by Pejiño, who slipped when facing the goalkeeper, respectively.

In the second half of the match, there was more work for Dinko Horkas, who protected his goal with three commendable saves, showing reflexes to block shots from the visitors.

The 4-0 was the final result on a festive day, with special mention to Jesé Rodríguez, who was applauded by the fans at the moment of his substitution.
