Las Palmas increases its hope with a thrashing of Ceuta (4-0)
UD Las Palmas secured their second consecutive victory this Sunday by thrashing AD Ceuta 4-0 at the Estadio de Gran Canaria, in an afternoon filled with great football, chances, and goals. The scoring was opened by Manu Fuster, followed by two goals from Japanese player Miyashiro and one from Jonathan Viera.
The performance of the yellows was incisive, with a wave of risky plays in the defensive zone of the North Africans. From the very beginning, Las Palmas showed freshness in passes, recoveries, advances into free space, and arrivals in the area. Only accuracy in finishing was missing, although Jesé tested goalkeeper López with an excellent opportunity that was ultimately deflected in extremis.
García Fernández had offered a lineup this Sunday with significant changes, especially in the defensive zone where only Mika Mármol remained from the match against Cultural. However, the game maintained the patterns of the inspired moments from the previous matchday.
Jonathan Viera, Cristian Gutiérrez, and Jesé once again came close to the opening goal, which, however, fell to Manu Fuster after a quick action. The ball had been stolen by Enzo Loiodice, who passed it to the Valencian player to unleash a shot from outside the area that went in near the post. The visiting goalkeeper stretched but could not reach such a precise missile.
The match began to make sense for UD Las Palmas, which continued with the same rhythm both at the end of the first half and at the start of the second half. The yellows encouraged counterattacks when their opponent pushed forward in search of an equalizer. In one of those plays, the 2-0 came in the 54th minute. Jesé and Viera connected again, with a shot from the captain that the goalkeeper deflected. But Miyashiro, who was also charging forward, caught the ball and sent it into the Ceuta net.
A Canarian festival had broken out in the second half. Jesé forced López into another save before Miyashiro, once again a striker in the counterattacks, scored the 3-0 with an assist from Cristian Gutiérrez.
The 4-0 came in the 65th minute, scored by Jonathan Viera from the penalty spot. The penalty was committed by Bodiger, who touched the ball with his hand after Juanma Herzog had headed it following a corner.
Las Palmas kept trying to widen the gap on the scoreboard, but the final result remained unchanged.
