Jeremía Recoba was introduced this morning at the Sports City as a new player for UD Las Palmas.

The club's sporting director, Luis Helguera, praised his arrival, highlighting his potential and versatility: "We had been following him for quite some time. He is a very versatile player, with goals and energy. He can play in various offensive positions, even on the wing or as a false nine. He fits what we want and will contribute a lot to the team. He signs for three years plus one."

The player's words:

"I am a footballer who always likes to move forward. I get very involved with scoring goals. I always look for that first option. Many people from Uruguay, including my family, told me that Las Palmas likes possession football. I didn’t hesitate to come here."

"I don’t think about my father’s career. For me, it’s a challenge to surpass it one day. I know it’s not easy, but I’m working on it. I’ll make my own career, and I hope it will be better than his. My father hopes so too."

"I consider myself a player who doesn’t play for the fans, but my style of play appeals to them because I always move forward. I don’t feel that pressure. We’re going to have a great year with all the fans."

"We haven’t had the chance for him to tell me what he needs from me this year. We’ve talked about some tactical things, like in yesterday’s game. Viera and Jesé have a lot of experience. They and I need to adapt. I see myself playing with very talented players like them."

"My intention and the group’s is to finish the season, give each other a hug, and be back in the First Division. Because I believe Las Palmas is a First Division club. We have to prove it on the pitch."

"My father helped me a lot in deciding that this was the best club (to debut in Europe). We chose Las Palmas because of its philosophy and environment. Many people told me about life here and that the people are very nice. That helped me decide to come."

"At Nacional, I played in several positions and roles on the team, even as a false nine."

"There’s a very nice group here. They gave me a spectacular welcome. They advised me on living here. All the players received me warmly."
