UD Las Palmas started by winning tonight's match with an early goal by Remy, but ended up losing their sixth successive league match against Deportivo de La Coruña (1-3) and continue to occupy a relegation place.

This league encounter was vital for both teams, and featured changes to the yellows' starting line-up. Pako Ayestarán kept Raúl Lizoain in goal following his fine performance in the Spanish Cup, and put both Sergi Samper and Remy on from the start. Las Palmas started brightly with a quick passing game which brought an early breakthrough in the 7th minute, the work of French forward Remy. After just ten minutes Las Palmas were forced into a change after Jonathan Viera had to go off injured. Another muscle injury put paid to the home team's midfield. VIera was replaced by Tana.

This enforced change affected Las Palmas' flow in the game and led to Deportivo coming out of their shell, and on several occasions they tested home goalkeeper Raúl Lizoain who dealt comfortably with what they could throw at him. Samper and Vicente Gómez were not able to put together any meaningful moves and this led to Remy, Calleri and Vitolo being detached from the away goal defended by Pantilimón.

Deportivo began to settle down, gaining in confidence, and from one of many right wing crosses got their equalizer with a header by Celso, who outjumped Michel to head past Lizoain (min. 36). Las Palmas continued to have possession, but had less room to work in. Half time came with the scores level at 1-1, but things were not looking rosy for the home team, despite a great long range effort by Vicente Gómez that struck the crossbar.

The second half saw Deportivo come out sharper, dominating play and causing mistakes to creep into their rival's play. Las Palmas continued to push forward in an anxious fashion, while from another set-piece move Depor took the lead 1-2 (min. 54), with another headed goal by Celso. It was now time for Las Palmas to try to come back against a team that was a far cry to the one they met in the Cup, a much more hard-working side tonight. Without really moving into gear, Deportivo de La Coruña went further ahead, 1-3, this time with a penalty scored by Lucas Pérez (min. 66), when Fede Cartabia was felled by Lemos in the box. Despite their attempts to reduce arrears, the yellows went down to another home defeat, against a direct rival, leaving them in relegation places for another week and having to turn their attention to next Sunday's match against Real Madrid, in the Santiago Bernabéu stadium.
