UD Las Palmas came away with another three points in Lugo with their third league win in a row. A goal by Pedri late on followed by another by Thomas Pekhart in the dying minutes of the match gave the team an important win and two successive away wins on the Spanish mainland.

Pepe Mel made just one change to his starting line-up, Narváez replacing Thomas Pekhart. The Columbian forward, on loan from Real Betis shrugged of the discomfort in his knee and his manager decided to play him from the start. Central defender Mauricio Lemos was the only absentee, as his muscular injuries need a few more days' recovery time.

UD Las Palmas came into the match at the Anxo Carro in buoyant mood following their last two consecutive league wins. CD Lugo, managed by ex-Las Palmas player Eloy Jiménez, took the game to their opponents. After 8 minutes, Cristian Herrera had the first scoring chance for the home side. He wasn't sure whether he was onside or not, and he mis-hit his shot, the ball being blocked by the body of away goalkeeper Josep Martínez.

It took Las Palmas a while to settle down because they didn't have much possession. A fine pass by De la Bella (min. 28) was not taken advantage of by Srnic, whose hurried shot went wide. The yellows began to up their game and once more Jonathan Viera (min. 32) looked like he had put Las Palmas ahead following a fine cross by Álvaro Lemos. However, VAR ruled out the goal for offside. The sides went in at half time goalless.

The second half began with Las Palmas patiently knocking the ball around. They slowed the pace of the game down and looked for the telling pass. In the 52 minute an angled drive by Srnic rebounded back off the post after a great pass by Pedri. The game was very close, but Las Palmas were gaining the upper hand. They continued to push forward and managed to get a deserved goal in the 83rd minute. A fine ball through by Jonathan Viera found Pedri who just managed to get the ball into the back of the net. Then in time added on a Pekhart header gave the yellows their second goal and the final 0-2 scoreline.
