The game, played on the artificial turf of Municipal de El Paso, presented some challenges for García Pimienta's team. Not only due to the type of surface but also due to the performance of the local team. Atlético Paso made it difficult for Las Palmas to build up their play, and some of their attacks resulted in chances.

Las Palmas attempted to open the scoring with shots from Cristian Herrera (including a free-kick), Marc Cardona, and Pejiño. However, the only goal of the first half came from a corner kick, headed in by Tala for the home team in the 36th minute.

The concerning news was the injury to youth player Iñaki González, who requested a substitution after a contact play with Kata. He was replaced by his Las Palmas Atlético teammate, Yadam Santana.

Las Palmas came out with the ambition to equalize in the second half. Their best chance came in the 67th minute when Perrone shot from close range, but the Atlético Paso post denied the ball.

That play foreshadowed the multiple substitutions planned by García Pimienta for the last 20 minutes of the game. In the final moments, with Jonathan Viera leading the charge, Las Palmas pushed for the equalizer with several opportunities, but the local goalkeeper made crucial saves. The best of them was a volley by Munir, but Gutiérrez managed to touch the ball just enough to prevent the goal. However, the equalizing goal didn't materialize.
