Las Palmas fails to capitalize on numerical advantage and loses to Celta (0-1)

The game took a turn in the first half when Borja Iglesias scored the only goal, but the outlook seemed to improve in the final 30 minutes when Celta had two players (Moriba and Aspas) sent off. However, the equalizer that could have earned Las Palmas a point never came.

One notable absence from the squad was captain Kirian Rodríguez, who was sidelined due to discomfort from the previous match against Villarreal.

In the opening moments, Las Palmas showed some of the same patterns seen in recent games. They created early danger but couldn't find the back of the net, unlike their opponents.

By the 5th and 7th minutes, Portuguese players Essugo and Fabio Silva had the first chances. Essugo fired a powerful shot after a solo run from midfield, and later Silva broke into the box following a precise pass from Januzaj. On both occasions, Celta’s goalkeeper Guaita made crucial saves to deny Las Palmas.

Despite this, Las Palmas struggled to find their rhythm in the game, and Celta took advantage by putting the ball into the net through Swedberg in the 16th minute. However, the goal was disallowed by the referee and VAR due to Borja Iglesias being offside.

The breakthrough came 11 minutes later. Fabio Silva made another dangerous run into the box, but his pass found no finisher. Then, in the 27th minute, Borja Iglesias scored the decisive goal, just redirecting a cross from Mingueza.

Celta’s lead was a blow to the home side's game plan. Las Palmas tried to respond through individual efforts, with Javi Muñoz coming close in the 40th minute, but Guaita saved again.

The second half saw a shift, as Las Palmas pressed for an equalizer, and their chances increased when Celta went down to nine men after two quick dismissals, with over half an hour left to play.

Despite the numerical disadvantage, Celta defended their lead successfully, with Las Palmas applying heavy pressure. The best opportunities came from Moleiro and Jaime Mata, with Moleiro shooting wide in the 88th minute and Mata hitting the post with a header in the 90th. But once again, the ball refused to go in for Las Palmas.
