Diego Martínez: "The team knew how to stay in the game with and without the ball"
The Las Palmas coach highlighted: “Our main mistake was conceding so early. You can’t allow that to happen in this stadium. That’s exactly what they look for with those fast starts. There were a lot of phases in the match. The team managed to stay in the game both with and without possession.”
Diego Martínez spoke to the media after the match against Athletic Club at San Mamés and stated: “It was a high-tempo game with a lot of running. Today we needed to choose the right moments to finish strong — to stay alive until the end and try to score that goal.”
Some of his comments:
“We have five games left. I see the team doing well, looking strong. On a very tough pitch, the team played a good match and showed up.”
“All the remaining matches will be tough — everyone’s fighting for something. I see the team focused and strong. Today, we competed well on one of the toughest grounds, and the team showed character and personality.”
“We should’ve been a bit calmer in the final third, where we’re usually strong. When you don’t win, you can’t leave with a good feeling. We’re on the right path, but this team has always shown the right attitude.”
“The level of play has been very high over these last three matches. Every game has mistakes, of course. The team that believes the most will be the one that achieves its goal."
