Quique Setién: "I would have liked to have finished in better fashion"

In his last game in charge of UD Las Palmas, Quique Setién said his team were "punchless" and lamented "the first goal conceded".

There are no reactions yet. Be the first!

Setién explained in general terms what has happened since he announced he was leaving the club, saying "the idea has been the same since the very first day, and the only thing that has changed is the lack of effectiveness at both ends of the pitch. We have had a terrible run away from home. It is likely my decision to leave has affected the team’s morale, but I wouldn’t know to what extent". He stressed that "the team lost its consistency because their state of mind, which is the driving force, and the instability it generated has influenced the team’s drop in form over the last three months, and leaves me with a sad feeling".

"I would have liked to have finished off with a victory. I think my work has been honorable and with the maximum dedication. It up to everyone to assess it from the outside now. These last few results leave us with bad taste. I think it is also fair to look back on all the good things these players have done, and we have all enjoyed watching them play". He also acknowledged he is the first one to put his hand up and admit his mistakes.

When asked about the absence of Boateng he said that "Prince has had a stomach upset and has been on a drip all night, and was in no condition to play". To finish, regarding his future, Setien said that "now is not the time to talk about it".
