Setién said that they are not yet thinking about Saturday’s clash against FC Barcelona. "We need to approach the Cup game against Atlético de Madrid with a full commitment and professionalism. We are not just going to throw the tie away, because our dignity is at stake". With reference to the immediate arrival of new players to strengthen the squad, Setién stated that "both Calleri and Toledo are players who will quickly settle into our footballing style".

The yellows’ trainer has revealed that Tyronne will soon be moving on, possibly followed by Sergio Araujo. "He hasn’t been playing that much, and it will become even harder for him now because we are bringing in new faces who play in the same position, and who are very interesting for us", he said. He reminded those present that several months ago he recommended that Javi Castellano look for another team so he could get more playing time. "If he prefers to stay I will not say no, but I can’t understand it if a player doesn’t actually want to play".

UD Las Palmas leave for Madrid at midday, taking a total of 23 players with them, including goalkeeper Alex Guanche. Only Araujo and Tyronne are staying in Gran Canaria. The squad will then train for the rest of the week in Las Rozas (Madrid), before travelling to Barcelona on Friday afternoon.
