Rocco Maiorino is the yellows’ new Sports Director, and said he was excited about coming to Las Palmas during his presentation. Maiorino made it clear that now is not the time to talk about the future, because "the most important thing right now are the ten remaining games of the season", adding "we won’t be making any decisions until the season’s end because there are so many things to assess" as well as it being "a lack of respect to the squad".

"I am sure that with my football philosophy, which I share with the President, we will do a great job. I will need a little time and when the time is right I will bring my ideas on board" he stated in terms of what he could bring to the club. The Italian said "I will work 24 hours a day to take the club back to where it deserves to be, for its history, which is the First Division". In terms of his footballing philosophy, he stated "it always speaks the same language wherever it is played, the important thing is to sign top players, in this case for Las Palmas".

Rocco Maiorino also alluded to the youth set-up and said "the ideal thing would be for the youngsters, if they are good enough, to make the jump to professional football as soon as possible because there is no minimum age in football”. He continued, "It would be a success if we managed to develop one player per season from the youth team and put him in the first team". To finalize, he responded to questions as to whether he knew the Second Division saying "that’s my job, and even more so after talking for the first time with the president".
