Pepe Mel assessed his side's victory against Albacete, "in certain phases we were quite brilliant", while recognising that through mistakes "we allowed Albacete back into the match".

"We are a young side and we need to learn from our mistakes", he pointed out. Mel added that his team are improving "and when we have all our players available we will be better still". The manager spoke of Las Palmas' great football, saying, "when good players come together the team plays really well".

Jonathan Viera scored a brace on his return to the Estadio Gran Canaria and Mel praised the Gran Canarian player, saying "he is a wonderful player who linked up perfectly with Pedri, Galarreta and Fabio. We are hoping he continues to get stronger physically".

He concluded by saying that he hoped the fans "have seen a team that know what they are doing".
