Pepe Mel said that CD Mirandés’ football approach can be defined as "direct football", but despite this UD Las Palmas "will not be changing the way we play". With reference to Mauricio Lemos, Mel stated that "he has the team right behind him". The return of Martín Mantovani is one of the last-minute changes to the squad. "He has recovered more quickly than expected and we are thankful for that, but he is still not ready to play the full ninety minutes". Defenders Aythami Artiles and Álex Suárez are both unavailable for this match due to injury.
"Pedri has returned fully fit and is available to play. Our style should adapt to the players we have. He provides more ball control as well as other different things". The manager also stated that there is still no decision made on whether second team right back Dani Martín will feature in the starting line-up, although he is with the travelling party due to the ban on Alberto de La Bella.
Mel is hopeful to have Jonathan Viera, Benito and Álvaro Lemos back in the fold for next week. "Sergio Araujo will be back in contention in the first week in January. In the case of Rubén Castro and Raúl Fernández we will have to wait a little longer" he concluded.
