Pepe Mel admitted his side have been struggling to score goals for many games now, and explained that they are playing a certain way and that "we need individual players to improve", adding "the substitutions we made and the change in our system helped us play better as the match wore on".  "I can continue to work on tactical aspects and each player’s individual aspects, but I cannot influence refereeing decisions. We have conceded 13 penalties in 27 games this season and no side can withstand that" he stated. Mel underlined that he cannot lay any blame on his players because "they have played really well today. We are quietly and calmly rejuvenating the team".  Mel is aware that all managers are assessed on results, and he said the best thing he has at the moment "is the backing of the club. I am happy here and enjoy my work week in week out". He ended by sending a message out to the fans: "if I were a fan I would be unhappy about the result but happy with the team’s efforts and the way they are playing".
