Pepe Mel: “Today we have shown we are a serious team

Las Palmas manager was happy with his side’s performance tonight against Betis despite their defeat, saying “we are a serious team and that is what I want. We have progressed over the pre-season games”.

Pepe Mel stepped onto the pitch of the Benito Villamarín once again, this time in the visitors’ dug-out with UD Las Palmas, and assessed tonight’s match, stating “we went out there with our usual motivation. I want us to compete like that in the league”.

The yellows’ manager recognised the importance of his missing players in attack, explaining “the team does everything right until we get towards goal but right now we don’t have either Araujo nor Rubén, and Cedrés is also out. Once they are back we will be much stronger”, adding, “our errors allow us to learn, and now we are only focusing on the game against  Huesca”.

To finish he was quite clear about the fact “I am not thinking of whether Jonathan Viera might be back or not. I am only concerned about the club putting out the players they need to”.
