Pepe Mel said that despite losing all three points tonight that he took a lot of positives from his team's performance, as they "stayed compact, pressured their opponents up front, and showed great attitude", adding "when I have got all my players fit, who are currently out for a range of reasons, we will be stronger".
Today saw the debut of Pedri, the 16 year old youth player, and Mel spoke highly of his game, saying "he has got something about him that makes him different, and he shows this against the professionals. He has helped the team a lot, and he will get better with every game".
The manager also spoke of the fans who cheered his team on from the terraces, saying "they were out of this world. I knew they would be excited with the home-grown players. I would just ask them to be patient right now".
To finish with, Mel spoke of the pity he felt for all Gran Canarians who are suffering due to the forest fires than have been raging on the island over the weekend, saying "we send them all our love. We are shocked and feel consternation at what is going on in Gran Canaria. In the name of the club we will help out in any way we can".
