The Las Palmas manager gave a positive assessment of his team’s performance this evening, saying “that is the way we want to play but we need all our players fit to do so. We started off really well”.

Pepe Mel was happy with his side’s victory, but explained how hard it is to "keep a regular level when you have nine or ten players out every week. Tomorrow we will turn our attention to the game against Extremadura".

"Not only have we got Pedri and Viera back, we have also got Aythami, Mantovani and Benito who have made our defence much more solid" he pointed out. Goalkeeper Valles returned to the starting line-up today and Mel stated "I had to play him again because every time he has played he has done well and as manager it was what I had to do".

Javi Castellano was also back in the starting line-up and in the words of his manager “he has had a great game, and he fully deserves to be starting matches". To end with he spoke of Jonathan Viera’s situation, explaining "the president is making every effort to keep him at the club. I am more concerned with finding a replacement for him if he leaves".
