Pepe Mel assessed his side’s draw against Almería, saying “in terms of goal scoring opportunities it wasn’t a bad match which was not easy to play given the atmosphere and the fact there was nothing to play for”.

“I am pleased for the young lads. I think they are good news for us” stated Mel, who added: “when you look at Las Palmas’ superb squad and then at players such as Cristian, Josep and Fabio, it makes you think”. Fabio started the match, and his manager said he was happy with what he saw of the Gran Canarian, commenting, “he knows how to handle himself on the pitch. He know about the pace of the game and that is good”.

To end with he spoke of his future, and pointed out “in sporting terms I have tried out all my ideas. I continue to work for the future of the club, but now I have to wait and see what the club’s budget will be”.
