Pepe Mel re-signs for another season

Pepe Mel renews his contract as manager of UD Las Palmas for another season. He is accompanied by Roberto Ríos, deputy trainer, and physio David Gómez. Completing the team are José Esteban Yepes, goalkeeping trainer, and Turu Flores, technical assistant.

Madrid-born Pepe Mel (28th February 1963) renews his ties with the manager’s position at UD Las Palmas for next season. Mel came to the club on 4th March as replacement for Paco Herrera, who was sacked after the 28th league game of the season, a 1-1 draw against Extremadura.

Mel has achieved 15 points from 13 matches going into the last league game of the season on Sunday in Soria against CD Numancia. He has recorded four wins, against Deportivo de La Coruña (0-1), Lugo (4-1), Córdoba (1-0) and Rayo Majadahona (3-2), three draws, against Granada (1-1), Real Oviedo (1-1) and Almería (0-0), and has suffered six defeats, against Mallorca (1-2), Elche (0-1), Cádiz (0-3), Albacete (4-2), Tenerife (2-1) and Osasuna (2-0).

Pre-season will begin for UD Las Palmas on 8th July at the new training facilities at Barranco Seco. The players are due to start back on the first day with medicals, which will take place at the Hospital Perpetuo Socorro.
