Mel said "Extremadura will be looking to play a physical game so we need to show them we are not just a technical side. Playing at home they will be chasing us down and closing down any spaces. We need to play with character if we are going to win and to get into a top ten position in the league. If you lose a couple of games in the second division you slip back down, while if you win you go straight back up. We need to be up there for the end of season run-in. And we are close to achieving that."

"Pedri has had a temperature this week but he is fit to play. We have had to be careful with Jonathan Viera. Slowly we are seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. The good news today is that Sergio Araujo has trained with the group and will soon be back in the team", he added.

The manager confirmed that Álvaro Valles will be in goal for another week. "I have no reasons to change him. Both our goalkeepers are very reliable, and Josep has recently been involved with the Spanish Under-21s".

He then spoke about the strength in depth of the squad. "The players see it as natural because they see how Pedri and Viera work, and how they are leading the way. Everyone is raring to go. Today's team selection was hard because I had to leave players out. They know that their manager is fair. We are getting players back, such as Javi Castellano, which is raising the level of the team" he concluded.
