Pako Ayestarán: "We are far from happy with the result, but we take away some positives from the match"

Pako Ayestarán came over as optimistic after defeat at the Camp Nou, saying "we know it was never going to be easy, but we are happy with what we have done", adding "the team were able to put into practice the ideas we set out for them in just a couple of days", and looking to the future, he stressed "our first half performance is a good place to start from and move on from".

Regarding the system he used to face FC Barcelona, he was clear, saying "we played a 4-3-3, I think it is the shape in which the team will perform best". Referring to how he would like the team to play from now on, he said "the team will never go out there to defend, we need to be able to dominate matches in terms of possession, and that is what we are aiming for".

After just two days’ training his squad, he recognised that "not a lot can be done to change things in such a short time", concluding his press conference at the press room in the Camp Nou, following his first match in charge of UD Las Palmas.
