Paco Jémez remained firm about the way his team should play. "I won’t do anything weird, I don’t want any changes other than to keep improving. We will stick to our guns in the way we play" he said. He referred to FC Barcelona as "one of the best teams in history, I always expect the best of our rivals but I will put out a team that I believe will be able to beat them", and added "my goal is to win".

Jémez stated these kinds of matches are a prize for the club, saying "we need to look at this match as a kind of reward, we are facing a great team and it provides a great chance to show what we can do because they will make it extremely hard for us. There can be no more debate about my players’ attitude because I can show with statistics that they really go for it out on the pitch" the trainer stated.

As for the fans, he asks everyone to support the team right until the end because "we need to make history all together. I would love to see the Estadio Gran Canaria packed out and the fans getting right behind us" he concluded in the press room prior to the match against FC Barcelona.
