Paco Herrera: “This is not over until we achieve what we want”

“This is not over until we manage to turn things around. I am convinced we will do so” stressed Paco Herrera following his side’s draw this evening.

Las Palmas’ manager assessed his side’s performance, in which both teams had chances, saying, “the game was end to end. They started the better side”. Herrera explained that his side are now suffering “a kind of anxiety which means mistakes are creeping in, and I have to make sure this changes”, adding “we are not bold enough. We need to face up to things because it is so important”.

As for the team’s evolution since his arrival, he stated “we need a bit more bite. Physically I have noticed the team are somewhat tired. We need to improve and that can only be done in training every day. This will not be over until we see the team back up at the top”. Paco Herrera insisted that “there are some fine players here but we still are not playing as a team” which is what he needs to focus on.

Diego Parras was not in the starting line-up despite the absence of Álvaro Lemos through suspension, but the manager said “it wasn’t his time and if it were it would have to be with the game already underway”. He remained firm, saying “we don’t need to bring anyone new in over the winter transfer window. We will sort this out with the players we’ve got”.

The supporters play a decisive role, is the trainer’s opinion, and although the discomfort is obvious, he insist on their support, “because wit them the team will rise”, he concluded.
