Manolo Jiménez: “We need to be more lethal in front of goal”

“We created lots of chances and we should really be turning them into goals”, stated Las Palmas’ trainer following his side’s nil-nil draw against AD Alcorcón.

Manolo Jiménez spoke after the match, saying “we had all the possession and it is not easy against a side like Alcorcón. We needed to be more lethal in front of goal”, adding “we had a great first half and we need to make our chances count”.

”I like what my team are doing, we are on the right track”, said the manager. "They had eight players behind the ball in two lines of four and dominated the defence. They might like to play like that but we certainly cannot", he admitted.

Jiménez is not worried following this draw because in his words "we go from heroes to villains in a flash. That is a another kind of football, but it is not for me. I am disappointed with the draw, and nobody is as disappointed as me”, he said

Regarding the return of Sergio Araujo, he said: "We should be coherent with the lad, as he has been sidelined for two weeks. Araujo is really excited about playing and he needs to just settle down a bit, he needs to develop the edge which he will do in a couple of weeks. The players are absolutely exhausted and disappointed because they wanted more. That’s the good thing", he concluded.
