Manolo Jiménez thanked the fans’ support before, during and after the match, saying “it is up to us to bring people in with hard work and effort”. Jiménez assessed this afternoon’s game in which the yellows defeated league leaders Málaga, saying “they were a great rival. We started out really tense but as the game went on we began to grow and we deserved to win. We had the odd setback but the team composed itself, my players have done in the match what we do in training, so I am very happy and proud of them all”.
”Now is not the time to get carried away, there are still plenty of things we need to improve on, and we still have room to go higher” said the manager, as he acknowleged “my players have been magnificent today. They are fully committed and I hope their football enables them to achieve in June what we have set out”.
After this afternoon’s important victory there is a danger the players could become over confident, and Jiménez stressed, “it is clear we are on a high but we need to keep working hard. Positive results are the best medicine but when we lose we will also have to be self-critical”.
