UD Las Palmas drew tonight against Real Oviedo. Paco Herrera opted for David García at right back. He also made another change on the left hand side, bringing in Dani Castellano for Alberto de La Bella. The central defensive partnering came in the form of Juan Cala and Deivid. Real Oviedo came out of the blocks with a chance for Mossa in the very first minute. Las Palmas settled proceedings down by playing possession football. Rubén Castro fired a low warning shot which Champagne turned away with his foot.

Oviedo played decisive football into Raúl Fernández’s area. The yellows were finding it hard to get a foothold on the game, and their backline were troubled on a number of occasions. Maikel Mesa fired over in the 24th minute following a good move by Paco Herrera’s men. UD Las Palmas showed anxiety at certain stages of the game, but looked to find solutions to the problems that Oviedo were causing them. A back injury to home goalkeeper Raúl Fernández before half time gave the home side an added headache.

In the second half, the game dropped somewhat in quality. Neither of the sides found the way through to trouble their opponents. With a lack of quality both teams were unable to put any decent football together. Las Palmas seemed to be handling the situation better, but the web of defenders of the away side was hard to break down. Paco Herrera, who is 65 years old today, introduced Galarreta and Rafa Mir in place of Rubén Castro and Tana, but were unable to find any way through either. The final whistle came with a share of the spoils at the Estadio Gran Canaria.
